Good news everyone. February is ‘National Potato Lover’s Month’…. Spudtober perhaps, but I guess, if you want to get all technical, Spudruary might be more appropriate.
Thankfully our friends at Amazon.com have a few products available to help us celebrate. Like this potato ricer for instance. I don’t know what I’d do if I couldn’t rice potatoes.
Love for the spud doesn’t end with February however. August 19th is ‘National Potato Day’ and August 24-25th are ‘Potato Days’ in Barnsville Minnesota. And if you think that’s the cat’s pajamas, get a load of this. The United Nations has declared 2008 as the ‘International Year of the Potato‘, in Resolution 4/2005 of the Conference of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, adopted on 25 November 2005. So when will there be a ‘French Fry’ day?…well, everyday is a french fry day in my opinion.
And there was much rejoicing…
one last thing…here’s a list of other food related holidays
Disposition: complete indifference

Wait a tick…that shouldn’t be a photo of the Professor…it shoud be a photo of……come on…Fry!!! Philip J. Fry! You seriously grazed the mark there buddy…so close…oh well, now you have an idea for a new banner photo.
Very good point. I was too focused on the professor…his catch phrase is ‘good news everyone’…not seeing the forest for the trees and what not I guess.
This past Mon&Tues they had a Billy West retrospective on Howard Stern. Billy does many of the Futurama voices (among many others). Anyway the recordings date back to when Billy was just starting out and he used to hang out frequently on the Stern show…do voices and bits. Some of it is unreal funny…most of it just funny. He’s great. I’ll give ya a copy or you can grab the torrent (Feb19th+20th Stern shows). Many hours though, FYI. If you do get it, listen to Billy doing Larry of the 3 Stooges (~5h20m of Feb20)…too funny.
Oh yeah, Ren and Stimpy…that was Billy’s breakthrough.
I luv tators
For the record, riced potatoes are the optimum medium of conveyance for gravy. Just thought I’d share that.

You got a point there G…I’ve never riced potatoes…or maybe I have…isn’t a ricer just a fancy masher?
No! They actually come out like grains of rice–try it some time, riced potatoes are fantastic…assuming you have gravy.
